Intro
Forgent AI is on a mission to build AI products for better public procurement. We’re looking for an exceptional AI Product Engineer (Staff) to join our team in Berlin. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our product and technology — designing systems that are robust, elegant, and impactful for a domain where reliability and precision truly matter.
The role
As a Product Engineer at Forgent AI, you’ll turn complex user needs within the public procurement sector into deeply engineered, user-facing AI applications. You’ll design scalable systems that seamlessly connect LLM-powered intelligence with full-stack product experiences. This is a rare opportunity to join an early-stage, mission-driven company and influence its architecture, culture, and long-term direction from the ground up.
You’ll work side-by-side with founders and top engineers, taking full ownership from concept to deployment in an environment that values speed, craftsmanship, and clarity of thought.
The day-to-day
- Design, build, and iterate on full-stack features using our stack — Frontend: Vite, TypeScript, React, Tailwind; Backend: Python (FastAPI, SQLAlchemy); Infra: AWS — integrating LLMs to solve real user problems while optimizing for performance, reliability, and security.
- Architect and evolve core systems, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and clean interfaces between components. This requires strong foundations in asynchronous workflows and workloads. Familiarity with orchestration tools like Temporal is a strong plus.
- Collaborate closely with founders and customers to deeply understand challenges and translate them into technical solutions that deliver measurable impact.
- Own features end-to-end, from technical design to deployment and iteration, while raising the bar for code quality and operational excellence.
- Contribute to engineering culture through reviews, design discussions, and technical presentations — fostering continuous learning and high-performance standards.
- Identify and lead improvements across the stack, architecture, and team processes — taking initiative to solve problems before they arise.
You should apply if you
- Are a highly skilled full-stack engineer with 8+ years of experience building and scaling reliable systems — with strong foundations in architecture, system design, and API best practices. Of these, you should have at least 5 years of experience testing/launching products and 3 years of experience with software architecture/design.
Note: We make exceptions for truly exceptional talent.
- Have proven ability to translate complex ideas into robust, real-world applications, ideally in secure, data-intensive, or high-availability domains.
- Show strong signs of performance and ambition — e.g., founding or leading a startup, major contributions to respected open-source projects, or leading complex systems at scale.
